“The place is great to visit, but the price charged by Viator is very high for what is essentially a transfer from your hotel to the place and back. Once there, you pay an entry fee (definitely worth going for the more expensive internal tour, especially if you are interested in engineering). All of the time at the site is managed by the Itaipu Dam staff. Get a taxi there and save a lot!!”

We were the only two people in our group booked to go to the dam, so we did spend time dropping other people back at their hotel part way through the tour. The bird park was a lovely experience, we spent a full 90 mins walking around and the aviaries are large for the birds to fly around. It was really helpful to enter the Brazilian side of the falls with a guide, to avoid long queues - these fit us provided the most spectacular views. The trip to the dam was worth it.”
